The coat of arms at the right—rediscovered by the family in Crete in 1997—offers evidence of our family's Davidic descent. The lion in the escutcheon is the Lion of Judea, the symbol of the royal family of Israel. The lion holds the crown and sword of the house of David. The Hebrew script translates as "The Coat of Arms of Don Shealtiel Chen (in Ladino, Gracian)”.
