Our family history is summarised in an animation; and in the booklet, “Shealtiel—a brief History”  the latter is a 3.0meg file so it will be tough to download without a broadband connection; you will also need Adobe Reader 6.0 or higher to read it. Both draw on the work of Moshe Shaltiel of Chicago, who has just published his history of the family; if you would like to order a copy, please contact his publisher, by clicking here . Use the code “SHALTIEL ” online to receive the family discount.

In this section we also explore the romantic history of Emanuel Saltiel who pioneered the American west,  a genealogy graphic and account of the UK family , and a review to which several family members have drawn to our attention of a recently published history Salonica, City of Ghosts  by Professor Mark Mazower. The professor’s distinction as a historian has not held him back from controversy; see here  for some context.

Finally we set out our understanding of the coat of arms  set out at the top of the page on the right, and the remarks on Heraldry and the Shaltiels at our Fifth Reunion, by Dr Clive Cheesman, Rouge Dragon Pursuivant of the English College of Heralds.
