Between 1993 and 2000, the family developed a number of arrangements for staying in touch, among them local and international reunions, the Shealtiel Gazette, the website and our “Open Door” programme of exchanges of family hospitality

At the Barcelona reunion in 2000, we resolved that we should formally organise an International Family Association, which took over responsibility for the Gazette. This drew on the experience of the French family who had organised a national Association some years earlier. Our first President was Herman Bredl, who did a distinguished job of creating some semblance of order out of the famously peppery Shealtiels, with our first constitution and collective legal personality. We pay tribute to him here.

At the Montpellier reunion in 2003, we resolved that the Family Association should also take over responsibility for the website and elected the current board.
