Gordon Saltiel---Farewell to the World's Best Smile
After a brief battle with cancer, Gordon passed away on Tuesday, November 1st, 2005 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by his wife Priscilla and son Donald. Survived by daughters Alice, Judy and Patsy; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and his enormous family of caregivers at Sunnybrook Veterans Residence, Toronto. His very meaningful funeral was held in the Sunnybrook Chapel, on Friday, November 4th presided over by a most amazing chaplain, Wes Roberts.
My Father's idea of life and living was loving and giving. By example he taught me how to love, respect and nurture others. He gave me everything he could right to the very end. He waited for me to arrive and gave me the gift of being with him when he left this world. Six and a half years ago he arrived unwillingly at Sunnybrook but during his stay there he won the hearts of everyone who came into contact with him. They all tell me the same thing; that they will miss his smile. In art therapy his pieces often depicted birds and when I asked him why this was so he told me that it was because birds could up and fly away, that they were free. He's free and flying high now smiling his best smile on the other side. I'll carry him with me always, forever grateful for having the world's best Dad.

Alice Alain Chekroun of the French Cheltiel family adds :
My uncle, Alexandre Cheltiel passed away on 27 September. He was one of the Rosh Cheltiel family. I learned a lot of things from him, especially the great history of the family. He was born in Algiers and was one of the heroes of the Second World War fighting at Monte Cassino in the Italian campaign. As a member of the Shealtiel family, he was a very generous man, loving to share his knowledge. May God welcome him between the Tsadikim at his right.

Hellfried Heilbut of Bergisch Gladbach, Germany writes
My dear brother, Professor Peter Heilbut, died at the age of 85 on June 24, 2005 in Hamburg. He survived two years of the hell of KZ Sachsenhausen. Only a few weeks ago his book "Ins Leben gelaufen" was published, where he described the "march of death" from Sachsenhausen. He was able to study music in Hamburg; he worked as music lecturer at the Staatliche Jugendmusikschule and at the Academy for Music in Hamburg. In 1998 he was honored by the Hansestadt Hamburg with the medal for science and art. He published many of his own compositions, as well as books on teaching children and youngsters how to play the piano and how to compose. The funeral was held on July 11, 2005 in Hamburg.
